Debby Waldman, BSc, MFA, has written for publications including People, Publishers Weekly, Sports Illustrated, and Sports Illustrated for Kids. She has written and co-written eight books, and had her work published in a number of anthologies.
An educator, she has taught writing and journalism at Cornell University, Ithaca College, St. Lawrence University, and Grant MacEwan University. She was also writer-in-residence at Grant MacEwan. Since 2011 she has been a writing advisor at the Student Success Centre at the University of Alberta.
Debby enjoys visiting schools to share the stories, humour, and wisdom of her books, encourage and inspire, and talk to students about her writing life. She delivers the talk she wishes she had been able to hear growing up in Utica, New York: that there is more than one way to be a writer, and if you are passionate, dedicated, committed and able, you can carve out your own writing life.
